Comin' at ya live! It's Serge again!I've been playing Dragon Quest IX, like, nonstop since I bought it. It's so fun and cute and adorable and fun. Have you ever killed shit with an adorable avatar? I highly recommend it.
In other news from around the Serge, I almost drove myself crazy trying to rip my CDs onto my cousin's laptop (which she most graciously let me borrow) so that I could get it onto my SD card so I can load it on my phone.
FIRST! I had to figure out how to rip the CD onto iTunes without it making two copies of everything.
SECOND! Once I figured that out, I couldn't get the files onto my SD card 'cause it was 'write-protected' and I was like WTF. This was not resolved until I realized the 'lock' switch was like the lock on them there oldschool floppies and not like a...keep the Micro SD from falling out of the SD card adaptor kind of lock. Oops.
THIRD! After that embarrassing little hurdle I could now get my tunes from laptop to SD card. Now the problem was my phone wasn't recognizing it. It wasn't until the night before I brought the laptop back to my cousin that I thought to look at the format. MP4? Oh shit. Maybe this phone will only play MP3s? So I dig around a little until I figure out how to rip my music in Mp3 format. Hooray!

Of course, by then it was too late to do any real ripping so I gave it up after a few albums.
Those albums include(!):
Natalia Lafourcade - Hu Hu Hu
Los Amigos Invisibles - Arepa 3000: A Venezuelan Journey into Space
MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
Juan Son - Mermaid Sashimi
Persona4 Soundtrack (Side A)
Vampire Weekend - Contra

So, not a bad selection, really. Stil, it's not enough of my music as I was hoping for. I'll just have to borrow it again someday.

More tomorrow when I hit the library, possibly!

As promised! An entry! I don't have a lot of time, though. Here's a quick rundown of thangs up in muh hood!

I have finally, after years of checking it out and ignoring it, I have finished reading White Teeth. It's been, like, almost a decade now that I caught the end of the mini-series when PBS aired it. At the time I remember thinking one dude in it looked like a brit Gregory Smith, which I now suspect must have been James McAvoy? I don't know. That's another something to look into, I guess.

In other book news, I've been buying way more books than is smart. I'm addicted to going through the books every saturday at the farmer's market. I've found some choice stuff, including, but not limited to Joseph Campbell's awesome books on mythology. The only downside is that they didn't have his book on oriental mythology, which is the only book of his I've read. Damn. Another good find at the thrift shop on Harvard was Greg Louganis's biography. There's this one part he talks about just after the 1976 olympic games when he was 16 and just cute as a button, and some random weirdo calls him to ask permission to masturbate to his picture.
Hilarious. And also kinda awesome.

I swear I'll write more in the future! See you next week!

Oops, it's been a while since I last wrote. I will try to keep it short.

Actually, nothing interesting's been going on.

I finally beat Persona4, but I got one of the less than awesome endings. And what sucks is my last save point is far too late to go back and fix things. So no matter what I do I have to watch my character board a train for home and say goodbye to his friends. Lackluster indeed.
It was still a pretty bad-ass game, though. I just don't have it in me to play through again right now.

Oh my God, that's it? I suck.

Okay, G'bye!

Oh no!!

My keycap! My precious sugar skull keycap that was a gift from Crystal! I've lost it!

I went hiking in Simpson Park this week and it must have snagged on a branch or something because by the time we left it was no longer hanging from my zipper. I cannot tell you how bummed I am because I took such good care of that. The key is really no big deal because I can always make another copy. But dammit! That was such an awesome Dia de los Muertos skull. And I can't find another keycap unless I want Hello Kitty or Twilight (I don't.) Sigh.

In other news. I went hiking. In Simpson Park. Oh wait, I said that already.

Uhhhh, well how about this: No. I got nothin' I don't remember what else has been going on that would be of any interest to anyone. All I've been doing (instead of looking for a job, mind you) is re-watching all of Veronica Mars and playing the hell out of Persona4.

P4, by the way, being incredibly fun and awesome and yay. I hatehatehated lvl grinding and randomly generated dungeons until the Persona series. Also, in P4 some of the dungeons include such awesomely off-kilter locations such as bathhouses (you know the kind I mean), strip clubs, and pixelated throwbacks to the 8-bit days. Yum!

Okay. That's all I got for now. See you in a few days!

Nothing new to report. Except this!

I bought Persona4 and Rez. Yay!

I bought some new buttons. Yay!

While I was getting said buttons I also picked this up

Cutout

I was going to give it to Fred as a gag gift for his birthday. But you know what? Fuck him. I'm keeping it. Bwa ha.

Oh, and also I begged for Hot Topic to give me a job. Results pending.

There's some kind of accident or something that happened a few blocks from here. Either it's something super major big or the cops don't know how to cordon off streets for crap.

As of yesterday, dad put the house up for sale!
This is potentially....all right.

Whether dad can sell the property before the IRS puts it up for auction is something else entirely. Woo.

Either way, I won't be living at this house for too much longer.
If dad manages to sell and pay off his debts that'll be good. And I'm going to try and finagle a car out of him.
Hey, he lost what was home for the majority of my life. I don't think that's too much to ask.
Also, I guess I can promise something like, I won't want to punch you in the face anymore.
Deal?

What else is new -- Hoo-fucking-Ray for the release of Pokemon SoulSilver! I'm playing the hell out of it, you understand.
This means one or more of you must now purchase HeartGold so that we may play and trade and generally have a good time. Also, I need the Latias and Kyogre you can only catch in HeartGold so I would be willing to barter.
Fun!

Anything else? I don't think so.

Hello, old friend. Stream of consciousness time!

Last Friday I went to a show on the Queen Mary. Golly!
My brother's band and about a million billion others were playing. There were a bunch of stages on three levels of musical wonder. But things didn't go off as smoothly as they could have. Here's why!

I got to Fred's apartment just as he was getting home from work. He still had to shower and then rush to Darren's, and then we (we being Fred, his gf Rebecca and myself) booked it to Long Beach.
Have I ever told you how much I love and miss Long Beach? I never actually lived there but I spent enough time there as a child for it to retain a large piece of my heart. I love you, Long Beach.
On a comepletely unrelated note, they have a Roscoe's chicken and waffles there. Yum.

So anyway, we make it to the Queen Mary and then Fred has to unload his drum kit, then figure out where he's supposed to play. Then the rest of the band shows up. It takes them so long to get settled and set up that they're told at 5:50 that they can only play until 6:15. So the boys have to play a very short and rushed set.

After they played I checked out some of the other bands. This one called Electro City was really good. Contrary to what you would think, it' a drummer, a guitar player and a singer. That's it. Another band that wasn't too bad was called Fall in February. One other band caught my ear and was pretty bad-ass but I couldn't catch their name. Something something Thursday. I don't know.

And because the guys weren't pissed enough, Justin tells everyone they could have played Saturday instead of Friday. This would have meant nobody had to rush home from work and other such unpleasantness. When asked why he didn't mention this before he just threw up his arms and shrugged. The official sign for a mumbled "ionno"And then to really piss the rest of the band off he says he's leaving. And takes all the band merch with him.

My brother smokes entirely too much weed to be so fucking angry all the time.

I was expecting to see a bunch of creepy, angry punk rock fucks at the show but there was a surprising amount of total cuteness there. You should have seen the getaway sticks on some of these boys. I really wanted Iván to come with me but his bitch ass had to work. Maybe next time.
This one guy said something to me, I think. It was either "No emo!" or "Go emo!"
WTF. I don't look or dress emo in any way. Was it 'cause of the stripes on my longsleeve tee? I wore that shit to keep warm. It's cold in Long Beach.
He must have been the fuckwad with the weed-tastic clothing line who can't tell the difference between there and their.
Their goes the neighborhood.

And maybe next time we can go look for ghosts! Oh, let's do!Speaking of, I recently saw The Haunting in Connecticut. Finally. Really good movie, but it failed to scare me at all. This is the fourth scary movie I've seen that failed to scare me at all. Something may be wrong with me. Or maybe I've seen scarier things in my life.

Maybe these movies just suck.
Except for The Haunting. That was a good flick. It made me sad rather than scared.

I guess that's it for now.
